Cannabis Salt Water Taffy

Salt Water Taffy brings back a ton of childhood memories for me. My family would go to a theme park, Silver Dollar City, where I would always find the absolute best Salt Water Taffy. I would stand and watch the candy makers for as long as I could. The bright and colorful candy always looked so beautiful while they were making it. This old fashioned candy has a soft and chewy texture, with tons of outstanding flavors. We are turning this American Classic candy into a Cannabis Infused sweet treat. Making Cannabis Salt Water Taffy is much easier than you think, it just takes a little work and patience.

Making candy is a fun, but sometimes a challenging feat. The syrup gets extremely hot, so be careful and pay close attention while cooking. Pulling the candy can take a little work, but end result of this Cannabis treat will be worth it. The flavoring in your Cannabis Taffy can be any flavor you like! My favorite flavor is Strawberry, but any flavoring will work.

When making candy such as the taffy, the weather plays a large roll. It is best to make candy on a cool and dry day. Humidity can cause the candy to absorb the moisture from the air. When humidity is absorbed the candy won’t harden like its supposed to. So check the forecast before you start!

Tools for Taffy Making

For this recipe you will need a candy thermometer. This is important because you will need to know the exact temperature of the candy while cooking. The next tool is wax paper. Wrapping the candy in wax paper will help the candy keep the perfect shape. Wax paper won’t stick to the Cannabis Taffy, and helps prevent the Cannabis Taffy from sticking to anything else. A pair of gloves will come in handy, it will ensure the candy won’t be stuck to your hands. Lastly, a 15x10x1 inch baking sheet, to pour the candy onto. Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cannabutter

  • 1 tablespoon 1 butter

  • 2 cup 2 corn syrup

  • 2 teaspoons 2 extract for flavoring

  • 1/2 teaspoon 1/2 salt

  • 1 1/2 cup 1 1/2 sugar

  • 5-6 drops 5-6 food coloring

Directions

  • Grease a baking sheet (15x10x1-inch pan) with the tablespoon of butter.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat add the corn syrup and sugar. Bring to a boil. Add the Cannabutter in and stir until melted. Stir and cook until the temperature gets to 250 degrees on a candy thermometer.
  • Remove from heat. Stir in the extract, food coloring and salt. Pour onto the greased baking sheet. Let cool for 10 minutes.
  • Once the candy is cool enough to handle, grease your hands or put on food grade gloves. Divide the candy into four portions.
  • Quickly pull the candy until firm but still soft enough to handle. Pull into a 1/2 inch wide rope. Repeat until all four sections are pulled into 1/2 inch size rope.
  • Cut into 1 inch size pieces. Wrap the candy with wax paper. Enjoy!
