  • 6 cups peanut oil (or your favorite cooking oil)

  • 1 cup canna-milk

  • 1 1/2 cups self-rising cornmeal

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup self-rising flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 egg, beaten


  • Using a deep fryer, heat oil to 350 degrees.
  • In a large bowl add cornmeal, baking soda, flour, and salt. In another bowl add the canna-milk and egg, mix well. Add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix.
  • Using a teaspoon, scoop up the batter and drop into the oil. Continue doing this until all the batter has been used.
  • Fry until the batter turns into a nice golden brown color. Turn the hush-puppies while they cook, so every side is golden brown.
