My wife could eat chicken every day, and this recipe ranks as one of her favorites. Marinate the chicken for at least an hour, but preferably overnight. You will be rewarded with chicken that is crispy on the outside with a tasty, tangy flavor.


  • 4 tbsp low sodium soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp infused olive oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp lemon or orange juice (save zest for plating)

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp brown sugar

  • 8 chicken thighs

  • Black sesame seeds (for serving)

  • Green onion, thinly sliced (for serving)


  • Combine ingredients (all but those for serving) in a large zip top bag.
  • Marinate at least 1 hour and preferably up to 24 hours, shaking or turning every so often.
  • Preheat grill to medium heat.
  • Remove thighs from bag and discard marinade. Place chicken on oiled grill for 5 to 10 minutes per side until internal temperature reaches at least 165°F.
  • When plating, add some zest to each thigh with some black sesame seeds and thin green onion pieces on top of the thighs which makes for a nice presentation.
